Participating in the Medical Directors Summit will be Dr. Tom McAfee. This prestigious invitation only event will include Medical Directors from the top hospitals and insurance companies from around the world to collaborate and network regarding the challenges in providing quality healthcare and insurance to local and international patients, and to discuss their programs with peers in other countries and learn from each other's experiences in order to strategically improve organizational planning.

As Dean of Clinical Affairs, UC San Diego Health Sciences, and Chief Executive Officer, UC San Diego Health System Faculty Practice, Dr McAfee provides leadership for UC San Diego's inpatient and outpatient physician practice, and for the advancement of the clinical enterprise vision.


In this role, he helps ensure that the clinical practice is achieving the highest standards of service, quality, safety, compliance and overall performance. Additionally, Dr. McAfee works to ensure that clinical programs and activities are integrated with and support the clinical, research, educational and community outreach missions of Health Sciences.


He's active with the Medical Society, Hospital Association and numerous external boards and committees. He is a clinical enterprise advocate with business, community and government constituents regionally, nationally and globally.

Presenting on the Impact of Free Trade Agreements with Latin America on Medical Tourism will be Luis Felipe Arango Pardo. Luis Felipe is The Managing Director of the International Program at UC San Diego Health System. He has broad experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, and also in the International Health Business from the Middle East and China to Mexico, Central America, The Caribbean and South America.


He is an expert in marketing and business development strategies and tactics. Through his experience as CEO of several insurance companies in Colombia and Ecuador, he has gained very special skills in General Management, Human Resources and International Trade.


The latter accomplished through his role as negotiator of the Free Trade Agreement between USA and the Andean Countries, where he sat as negotiator on behalf of Ecuador, in the Financial Services Table. He has more than 25 years experience in the Public and Private Health Insurance Industries throughout all Latin America.
