Fundamental human longing for health and well-being and fulfillment of life, when you find a logically correct way for this, then we say this is yoga,- renowned spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev said during the web stream hosted live from the UN in honor of International Yoga Day.

In an effort to raise awareness worldwide of the benefits of yoga, the United Nations proclaimed June 21st as International Yoga Day, this proclamation happened on December 11, 2014. When the draft resolution was proposed by India more than 170 member states endorsed this.

The very fact that the UN has declared it as International Yoga Day means India has gifted yoga to the world. It does not belong to India anymore,” Sadhguru said.

In the live web stream from the UN, Sadhguru insisted that yoga is a science and a technology and that people just have to learn how to use it. It does not mean standing on your head and holding your breath, he said.

Essentially yoga is about human well-being. In the last 50 years we are ripping the planet apart all in the pursuit of human well-being. In the last 100 years we are the most comfortable generation ever, but we cannot say that we are really well, he said.

Sadhgurus focus over the last 20 years has been on business leaders. He believes that businesses are essentially about human well-being and that the economic model today is everyone grabbing what they can grab. His work has been to move business leaders from their personal ideas to a larger vision.

"If you have a personal vision the world will work against you, but if it is larger then the world will work with you. How to make a difference rather than how to make a profit, this language has changed over the years," he said.

In honor of International Yoga Day the Isha Foundation, founded by Sadhguru, is offering free holistic workshops around the world. Click here to see a list of locations.
